About

You may know my work as a scholar of global women’s history and iconography, a speaker who teaches with images, but I’m an artist too. All these things go together, and a lot of my art re-envisions cultural worlds that have been obscured and hidden. Goddesses, spirits and ancestors, medicine women, seers, and shamans, historic figures and legendary founders.

With my slide camera, Oakland CA, 1979

I’ve also created a series of posters and prints that collage multiple artifacts according to themes and patterns: ancient female figurines, breastpots, vulva symbolism, women warriors…

This site has been a long time coming, but soon I’ll be adding more art. Many originals will be available for the first time. On tour I can only display so many prints, but now there will be a way to explore all of them and add to your collection.

And, take a look at my Deasophy Coloring Book. You may want to get a copy, or give one as a gift. Coloring these treasures is restorative pleasure.

If you’re interested in women in ancestral European cultures, you’ll also want to look at the sourcebook Witches and Pagans: Women in European Folk Religion, 700-1100.
